VITA 91 is a proposed standard aimed at creating high-density, high-speed connectors for VPX (VITA 46) applications. This standard provides an alternative to the VITA 46.0 VPX Baseline Standard by offering a higher density and speed connector option, which is not intermateable with the existing VITA 46.0 connectors. The new VITA 91 connectors are designed to meet the growing demands for data rates and compact form factors in military and aerospace applications, supporting data rates up to 56Gb/s PAM4. These connectors, aligned with the SOSA (Sensor Open Systems Architecture) standards, ensure robust performance in high-density, high-speed environments, making them suitable for next-generation systems requiring improved size, weight, and power (SWaP) efficiency.
Developed in alignment with The Open Group Sensor Open Systems Architecture™ (SOSA) technical standard, MIL-HD2 provides developers with a readily available, robust open architecture solution for tighter card pitches and chassis designs where space requirements and density are critical. These connectors are available in 3-, 4-, and 6-pair configurations, providing the MIL-embedded market with the highest count of differential pairs available today in a 3U configuration at 56Gb/s PAM 4 speeds. This series was selected by the SOSA Consortium and provides a SOSA aligned solution for nextgen switch and payload card requirements enabling the MIL-embedded market to meet next-gen performance levels while still meeting COTS requirements.
