At Open.Tech by Amphenol, we recognize the critical role of The Open Group Sensor Open Systems Architecture™ (SOSA) consortium in modern military and aerospace applications. SOSA is an industry consortium formed to create a universal standard for embedded sensor systems that enhances interoperability, reduces costs, and accelerates the integration of new technologies in defense systems.
Why SOSA Matters for Connectors and Cable Assemblies
SOSA aligns with key standards such as VITA 46 (VPX) and VITA 65 (OpenVPX), providing a structured approach to developing high-performance, modular, and rugged systems. Our SOSA-aligned connectors and cable assemblies are designed to meet the rigorous demands of military and aerospace environments, ensuring reliable high-speed data transmission and robust mechanical performance.
Key Benefits of SOSA-Aligned Products
Interoperability: Our SOSA-compliant products facilitate seamless integration across multiple platforms, enhancing system compatibility and reducing the need for custom solutions.
High-Speed Data Transfer: Utilizing advanced connector technologies, our products support high-bandwidth applications crucial for modern defense systems.
Rugged Design: Engineered to withstand harsh environments, our connectors and cable assemblies ensure durability and performance in critical missions.
Scalability and Flexibility: Designed with future upgrades in mind, our SOSA-aligned products allow for easy integration of emerging technologies, ensuring your systems remain ahead of the curve.
Open.Tech's Commitment to SOSA Standards
As a leader in the development of high-performance connectors and cable assemblies, Open.Tech by Amphenol is dedicated to supporting the SOSA initiative. Our products not only meet but exceed the stringent requirements set forth by the SOSA consortium, ensuring your systems are equipped with the best technology available.
Open.Tech's MIL-DTL-38999 Series III Connectors offer the highest performance capabilities for both general duty and severe environment applications. They can accommodate most signal types including RF and Fiber Optic. Meeting or exceeding MIL-DTL-38999 Series III requirements, our connectors are available in aluminum, stainless steel or composite with several finish options.
Open.Tech offers high frequency BMA and SMPM D38999 cabled RF contacts (size 8, 12 & 16) to SMA male connectors on Ø.085 and Ø.141 cable types that populate standard D38999 circular connectors. These fixed length cable assemblies allow you to expand the use of the standard D38999 circular connector to incorporate microwave transmission lines.
Open.Tech has released a line of D38999 pin and socket contacts that are aligned to the latest specification set forth by SOSA™. These coaxial contacts fit both standard and series III housing and are offered in BMB size 8 and SMPM size 12. These contacts are ideal in an embedded system that transitions from the chassis to an out-of-the-box application.
Open.Techs ARINC 801 cylindrical fiber optic connector is ideal for aerospace and military applications. Based on the commercial ARINC 801 specification, this series features a removable alignment sleeve retainer (ASR) for ease of ceramic ferrules termini end face cleaning, guide pins for precision alignment, pull proof mechanism and a scoop proof shell design. It is available in standard D38999 plug and wall mount shells. Inserts are available to support 2 to 32-channels and can support both PC and APC.
The fully compliant M801 Series fiber optic terminus is designed for aerospace and military applications. It uses a standard 1.25mm ferrule and sleeve and can be terminated with standard LC termination procedures. The terminus can be inserted or removed from the connector with a standard size 16 contact removal tool and is compatible with all existing ARINC 801 connectors.
