The dawn of a revolution in ground combat vehicles is upon us, with militaries worldwide embracing electric powertrains and hybrid propulsion systems. Open.Tech by Amphenol offers lightweight and robust interconnect solutions capable of handling the extensive power transfers required for electric mobility vehicles, electric military vehicles, and military EV infrastructure. While the future of military ground mobility may be hybrid and electric, our technology will remain essential components in both legacy gasoline-powered combat vehicle systems and the cutting-edge electric platforms shaping the next generation of ground combat vehicles. Amphenol offers open architecture solutions that are scalable and provide the ability to adjust and adapt for future design changes and system upgrades.

Future use case:  Next Generation Combat Vehicle (NGCV)

The U.S. Army’s Next Generation Combat Vehicle (NGCV) initiative aims to modernize the force with several new combat vehicle systems. This program heavily incorporates MOSA principles and commercial off the shelf (COTS) products throughout the development process.

A key focus of NGCV is the creation of a new infantry fighting vehicle called the XM-30 Mechanized Infantry Combat Vehicle, formally known as the Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle (OMFV). The XM-30 is intended to replace the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, a mainstay of U.S. armored forces since the 1980s.

Although the XM-30 is still in the design phase, its development under MOSA guidelines will enable rapid upgrades and technology updates, facilitating the quick integration of new innovations or responses to emerging threats throughout its service life.

Other upcoming programs in the NGCV portfolio, such as the Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) and the unmanned Robotic Combat Vehicle (RCV), are also expected to be developed with MOSA principles at the forefront.
